The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood and other clinical specimens from patients in a safe, accurate, and professional manner while ensuring patient comfort and adherence to hospital and laboratory standards.
Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for patients of all age groups.
Correctly identify patients and label specimens according to hospital and laboratory protocols.
Collect, handle, store, and transport specimens in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Ensure infection control practices, including proper use of PPE and adherence to biosafety guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy area and equipment.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample collection and documentation.
Accurately enter patient and specimen data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Assist pathologists and laboratory technologists as required.
Manage difficult venous access cases with care and professionalism.
Respond to emergency and stat sample collection requests.
Educate patients on sample collection procedures and address their concerns.
Dispose of biomedical waste as per hospital and regulatory guidelines.
Participate in internal audits, quality improvement initiatives, and training programs.
Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), or equivalent qualification.
Valid certification or registration as a Phlebotomist (where applicable).
Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory (freshers may be considered).
Good knowledge of laboratory safety standards, infection control, and biomedical waste management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays if required.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
